Janeen Reid, is the Founder and Executive Director of Full Circle Youth Empowerment Inc. In 2018, she launched a non-profit organization serving foster care and at-risk youth. Over the past 15 years, Janeen has served in many roles supporting youth as a director, social worker, counselor, advisor, facilitator, mentor, trainer, advocate, and church youth leader. Her avid passion for inspiring and building positive relationships with youth while providing them with skills needed to grow and thrive in a holistic manner has been the catalyst to which she has dedicated both her personal and professional life to make a difference.

Janeen worked as a Residence Hall Director at Southern CT State University for 5 years helping to create an environment where diverse students could learn and grow personally and academically in pursuit of their professional career goals. This was accomplished by providing learning opportunities through innovative programs. Janeen also worked for 10 years as a Social Worker & Supervisor of Adolescent Services in a foster care program at a non-profit organization.

Upon witnessing such a vital need for the development of skills and supports for at-risk youth and youth who experienced trauma, she developed programs that included life-skills, college tours, and an array of other opportunities to enabled youth to strengthen their overall personal growth and development. Upon these various initiatives she was recognized and received the 2015 Family Champion Award from the CT Council of Family Service Agencies.

With Janeen’s educational background, experiential learning, and dyadic vocational passion, she established a youth center with an array of holistic services and programs to help youth optimize their competencies and reach their full potential in pursuit of their goals. She strongly believes all youth deserve equal opportunities, has a purpose, potential, and possibility for success.

Currently, Janeen serves as a member of the Bridgeport Community Collaborative, member of the Health and Human Service Steering committee, and Co-Chair for the Youth and Parent Community Expertise Workgroup for the Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee for TOW Institute.

Janeen’s educational background consists of a Bachelor of Sociology, Master of Sociology, Licensed Master of Social Work, and Master of Organizational Leadership.
